Manchester United are keen to bring in a centre-back before the new season begins, and its looking increasingly likely that Arsenal captain Thomas Vermaelen could be at the heart of our new back three. According to Sky Sources, the 28-year old would prefer to move to Manchester United instead of playing for Barcelona.
Despite a horrible injury record, I feel that Vermaelen would be an astute acquisition for the Old Trafford club. Louis van Gaal likes centre-backs who can play out from defence, and Vermaelen certainly offers that.
