Picture: Two Man United players in BBC Team of the Week after Watford win

Manchester United returned to winning ways on Saturday, although you probably wouldn’t have begrudged Watford a point should they have taken one.

The Hornets were excellent throughout, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s United have a real grit and determination about them. It was a real mature display from the Red Devils who kept pushing even though they weren’t at their best.

Two players stole the show, and for their individual performances, both have been rewarded with a spot in Garth Crooks’ BBC Team of the Week. There are no prizes for guessing who Crooks has gone for…

Where else to start but the Man of the Match? Shaw was simply sublime against Watford on both sides of the ball. He was stern defensively, won his aerial challenges and he was positionally sound.

Going forward, Shaw was crucial to the victory. It was his Xavi-esque through-ball that played in Marcus Rashford, who duly slotted home and gave United the lead.

Of course, the other player Crooks gave praise to was Rashford. He took the goal brilliantly, particularly on his weak-foot. It’s wonderful to see the young forward flourishing under Solskjaer. We’re seeing his best form.

Rashford deserves even more credit because he’s still playing through injury. It’s mentally tough to continue when you know you’re not at your best and hopefully, he’ll continue to recover with each passing week.

Congratulations, lads!
