Picture: Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, named in WhoScored’s Form XI

Manchester United Football Club pulled off an absolutely huge result against Chelsea on Monday Night Football, as the Red Devils drag themselves back in the mix to secure Champions League football.

The Old Trafford club now sit just three points off the pace as they look to upset the applecart under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Consistency is key. Credit where it’s due, United have stood up to be counted in those big games and that continued. It all starts with having a solid base to build from. For United, it’s their defence.

Two defensive signings were made by Solskjaer over the summer. Today, that duo were named in WhoScored’s form XI – consisting of players who have performed well over the last six games.

First up we have Aaron Wan-Bissaka, whose 7.49 rating is, I would assume anyway, based most of his tackling ability. Not many wingers can beat him in the one-on-one while he’s always a willing receiver of the football, too.

Then you have Harry Maguire. His goal against Chelsea was hopefully a sign of things to come now that we have someone who can deliver quality balls into the box from set-pieces. He brings leadership and a presence to the table and his importance cannot be understated.

Credit has to go to Solskjaer, too. His signings have been a success so far – which is more than can be said for his predecessor. Hopefully, United can force their way into the top-four then lure some stellar names to Old Trafford for next season.

Congratulations, lads!
