Pictures: Amad, Bailly make first appearance of season at Man Utd training

Amad Diallo and Eric Bailly have returned to Manchester United training following their time at the Olympics with Ivory Coast.

Manchester United’s squad is still a few players light, with Marcus Rashford and Edinson Cavani yet to be spotted by the cameras in training.

However, two familiar faces made their return to the AON Training Complex today, with the duo involved in the session ahead of the Reds’ game against Southampton this coming weekend.

Both Eric Bailly and Amad Diallo were part of the Ivory Coast Olympic Games squad, with the African side losing at the quarter-final stage.

No doubt it was an excellent experience for both, particularly young Amad, who continues to hone his trade and develop as a footballer.

Anyway, today, it was great to see the pair playing their part in the latest training session at the AON Training Complex.

For both of these guys, the 2021/22 season is providing many talking points in different ways.

There’s every chance Ole Gunnar Solskjaer decides to send Amad out on loan this term, particularly after the arrival of Jadon Sancho at the Theatre of Dreams.

Perhaps playing week-in-week-out football at Championship level is far more beneficial to him than making the odd substitute appearance here at United.

As for Bailly, his task to start games regularly became even harder when Raphael Varane was signed. As of right now, he’s probably fourth choice in the pecking order, meaning he’s going to have to seriously give his best over the next nine months.

No doubt the regular football at the Olympics stands him in good stead. I still contend that if he can remain injury free, Bailly is one of the finest centre-backs in the country.

Welcome back, lads!
