Man United’s two latest additions have joined in on first-team training for the first time.
Manchester United were the biggest spenders in the summer transfer market, with Erik ten Hag looking to overhaul this squad.
Two players were brought in on deadline day. Both were absolutely necessary acquisitions.
Ten Hag had spent the summer chasing Antony from his former club Ajax, with the Brazilian finally making the move to Old Trafford on Thursday. He’s in contention to take on Arsenal this weekend.
The other player brought in is Martin Dubravka. The goalkeeper will back up David de Gea, after leaving Newcastle United. The 33-year-old will no doubt have huge ambitions to come in and take over the number one spot here at Old Trafford.
Anyway, ahead of their potential debuts over the next week or so, the club shared official snaps of the lads in training with their new teammates for the first time.
Check out the photos of Antony and Dubravka involved in training here:
More than anything, football is a squad game these days. Both Antony and Dubravka give ten Hag more wiggle room, particularly with the Europa League and EFL Cup starting up over the next couple of weeks.
Antony is someone who strikes me as a player with genuine confidence and belief. He also knows this Ten Hag system extremely well. With the lack of depth in wide areas at the moment, I genuinely wouldn’t be surprised to see the Brazilian come straight into the starting line-up.
As for Dubravka, he may not be as naturally talented as De Gea, though I fully expect him to compete for the starting job due to his stylistic fit. He’s far better with the ball at feet than his Spanish counterpart. Who knows, if De Gea makes a mistake or two, there’s every chance Dubravka moves ahead in the pecking order.
Welcome, lads!
