Pictures: Eric Bailly back in Man United training after ligament injury

Manchester United Football Club still have some serious issues in terms of personnel. Defensively, the Red Devils have ample numbers but they’ve got too many injury-prone players. Today, the Old Trafford club got a huge boost with Eric Bailly back in Man United training.

Over the summer during a pre-season game against Tottenham Hotspur, the Ivorian suffered serious injury which required surgery. On July 31st, he’d be ruled out for ‘four to five months’. We covered that story here.

Today, the 25-year-old was back in United training following said serious injury, and what a joy it was to see him back out there. Thanks, as ever, to the official club Twitter account who shared the snaps.

It’s easy to forget just how brilliant Bailly was during his debut season after sealing his Red devils move from Villareal. The centre-half is quick, tough in the tackle, great in the air and solid in a one-on-one individual battle.

Sadly, injuries have seriously derailed his career in the few seasons since and he’s barely featured under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Who’s to say Bailly can’t rediscover that form? Though it is going to take time.

He needs to stay injury-free for at least six months to fully get back into the swing of things. Obviously, that’s far easier said than done. I’d much prefer to see him in the team over Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo, mind…

For now, we need to give Bailly time. His recovery isn’t going to happen overnight. Heck, I’d be surprised if he starts matches before February or March if I’m honest – but one thing he’ll never lose is his talent.

So how’s the rest of the squad shaping up?

Shortly after the training photos emerged, United also offered us an injury update on other players. Sadly, it’s bad news. Axel Tuanzebe, Scott McTominay, Ashley Young and Paul Pogba were all missing from the fifteen-minute open session.

Either way, it’s good to see Eric Bailly back in Man United training once again!
