For whatever reason, the fans have often continued to hate on Jesse Lingard despite his excellent effort and terrific ability. The Englishman, now age 26, continues to wear the shirt with pride.
He may not be the flashiest footballer, nor does he find the back of the net with regularity, but Lingard does a job for the team, week-in, week-out. One thing that you simply cannot deny is the Warrington-born-winger’s class.
Lingard has always gone that step further for the fans. That’s just the nature of the man and he’ll never change in that regard. Simply put, he oozes class.
In the latest show of his sheer brilliance, Lingard surprised local amateur side, Whalley Range AFC, with new kits, coats and t-shits to start the new season with. What a man.
Football is more than just a game. At the elite level it’s now so much about money, but for the every day, regular fan, it’s what we look forward to on a weekend – whether playing, watching, or even listening on the radio, it means the world to so many people.
Lingard has done something special for Whalley Range AFC, those players, the staff, the club as a whole will never forget that gesture.
What was likely a drop in the ocean in terms of Lingard’s wages, it’s little things like this that reaffirms my belief that football is still the people’s game. Credit to Lingard, credit to his entourage and the good people around him. It really is top to see!
Well done, Jesse!
