Manchester United Football Club is seemingly doing all they can to stop lightning happening twice in regards to fan protests against Liverpool.
On Sunday, May 2nd, Manchester United fans would remarkably ensure that their game against Liverpool wouldn’t go ahead. Fans would breach Old Trafford, while another group blocked in the team coach from travelling from the hotel.
After a lengthy delay, United would eventually announce the postponement of the fixture – with the world starting to take notice. The fans had their voices heard on a global scale.
Ahead of the rescheduled fixture this Thursday, there has been talk of another protest – presumably, with the same end-goal in mind.
Well, it seems as though United have beefed up security measures. As you can see from the photo below, some metal gates have been erected, but behind them, a large barricade is draped right across the entrance, making it much tougher for fans to gain access so easily.

Obviously, the metal gates aren’t really going to do much as supporters could easily jump over them if they want. However, the big barricades let everyone know that United aren’t going to let this happen again.
I get why they’ve done it, but for some people, when there’s a will, there’s a way. I’d also imagine security will be massively tightened, with United no doubt calling in extra staff members to be on the lookout, too.
Factor in a beefed-up police presence and I have my doubts that the fans will be getting on the pitch this time. However, that doesn’t mean a peaceful protest cannot take place on the forecourt. Please, keep it peaceful. The last thing this club needs is for their fans to be in the headlines again in a negative light.
