After what would have been an extremely long flight, Manchester United have finally touched down in Perth as the first leg of their pre-season tour kicks off.

The Red Devils will now be ready to work hard in training, before getting into the game situation when they take on Perth Glory this coming Saturday.

In amongst it were regular faces like Marcus Rashford, Eric Bailly and Anthony Martial, while new signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka was spotted, along with youngsters Mason Greenwood and Angel Gomes.

I’m firmly of the opinion that this is the Red Devils’ most important summer since Sir Alex Ferguson left. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs to be backed heavily in the transfer market – but what takes place on tour over the next few weeks is of equal importance.

These players need to respond to the poor season they had last time around. They have to want to perform better and it’s up to Solskjaer to identify the players who’ll do just that.

Make no mistake about it, our return to the top is going to be a gradual process rather than a quick fix, but you can see what Solskjaer is trying to build with a high volume of young players making up the squad.

Hopefully, this tour is the making of some of these young lads, and we can hit the ground running in the Premier League, with a tough game against Chelsea kicking things off on the opening day…
