With injuries decimating the squad, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s task is made even harder. However, the Baby Faced Assassin has plenty of inspiration. After all, United did come from two down to overcome Paris Saint-Germain. Plus, it wasn’t that long ago when the 20-time Premier League champions actually toyed with City on their own patch.
Today, United players were put through their paces in training ahead of the game, with experienced and young faces involved. James Garner, Angel Gomes and Brandon Williams all featured, as did Juan Mata, Fred and many others. Thanks, as ever, to @ManUtd for the snaps.
We all know this is an uphill battle for United. We are capable of doing it, though. Grab an early go and The Etihad will suddenly get rather nervous. With the pace we have, particularly on the counter, Solskjaer could conjure up some more magic.
This squad is young, look at the training photos, even the more experienced faces included are mostly under 25! In time, we could become a real force and it’s games like these that define players’ legacies.
Hopefully, the XI that’s picked understand that and go out there with a real point to prove. Come on you Reds!
