Manchester United are back in pre-season training, and over the course of the week, we’ve been treated to seeing new faces arrive back at the AON Training Complex in spurts.
Earlier today, photos of new signing Daniel James in action emerged, and it was nice to see a new face getting in amongst it.
Shortly after the James photo came out, the official United Twitter account treated us to more shots. This time, both Dean Henderson and David de Gea were pictured as they make their timely return to the field just before United’s tour.
As you can see below, more familiar faces like Anthony Martial and Chris Smalling were involved, too, but today the focus is on our shot-stoppers.
As we all know, De Gea is yet to agree to a new Red Devils deal and with less than twelve months remaining, it’s more than fair to say his United long-term future is uncertain.
Henderson is a talented young man. After two successful loan spells and two back-to-back promotions at Shrewsbury Town and Sheffield United respectively, the Englishman (rightly) feels his time is now.
It all depends on De Gea. If a new deal is signed then I’d fully expect Henderson to head back out on loan to Sheffield United, but this time in the Premier League. Personally, I feel as though this is the best option, with the view to Henderson taking over the starting job in a season or two…
