Pictures: Raphael Varane back in Man United training

Raphael Varane has been spotted back out on the training field.

Manchester United Football Club are in a dire situation. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s future is up in the air, while results have been pretty dreadful.

The upcoming fixture list makes for pretty grim reading if you’re a Red Devils fan with Solskjaer’s best interests at heart. Tottenham Hotspur away this weekend is another potential stumbling block.

Well, United have been given a lift ahead of that game. Key star, Raphael Varane, is now back out there on the training field after seemingly overcoming his groin problem. Having the Frenchman back couldn’t be more timely as we’re going to need him back to his best.

I think we all knew that Varane would improve our starting line-up. But nobody thought he’d make such a positive impression so quickly. The Frenchman is already looking like by far and away our best defender. Heck, he looked like that on his first Red Devils start.

Any team with their salt have a defence that they can trust. We’ve kept one clean sheet in twenty-one games. Varane could be the pivotal factor in turning that around. I still firmly believe he’s the most important signing we made this summer.

But will Varane be ready to play?

Well, it looks like he’ll have had three full days training under his belt. Is that enough? I’m not sure. Given Solskjaer rushed Harry Maguire back and it went badly, to say the least, I’d expect to see United approach this one with caution.

I guess it all comes back to how Varane himself feels. If he’s at 100% and he’s being honest about that, then maybe the ex-Real Madrid man will return to the team and start alongside Maguire.

We’ll likely hear more from Solskjaer during his pre-match presser tomorrow.
