Pictures: Several Man United youngsters in first-team training before Cardiff game

If I’m being brutally honest, Manchester United fans cannot wait for this season to be over.

The squad is in a shambles and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a long, drawn-out process ahead of him. He’ll need time to fulfil his duties and build the squad in his image.

United’s final game takes place at Old Trafford this Sunday against Cardiff City. With nothing to play for but pride, Solskjaer has been handed the perfect opportunity to give youth a chance.

Imagine my pleasant surprise when pictures emerged of several academy products in amongst the mix during a first-team training session…

Angel Gomes, Arnau Puigmal, Tahith Chong, James Garner, Mason Greenwood and Dylan Levit were all involved in some capacity and what an opportunity it would have been for all the budding superstars.

It somewhat reminds me of United’s final day back in May 2017 when the likes of Josh Harrop and Demetri Mitchell got their chances to start in a Premier League game and hopefully, something similar is in line this coming weekend.

I think the one name we’re all looking forward to watching is Greenwood. Thankfully, it seems as though he’s over the minor injury that kept him out of the game against Huddersfield Town last time out.

For me, though, Garner is the one to keep an eye on. This kid is going under the radar recently, and with United’s midfield is an absolute mess at the moment, why not throw him in and see what he can do?
