Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney has come in for plenty of criticism for his on-field performances so far this season, despite breaking the England goalscoring record and rapidly closing in on the top scorer award for Manchester United too.
The international break means a fortnight away from Manchester United for Rooney, and he was pictured having a night off at WWE’s wrestling event in Manchester last night.
However somewhat unexpectedly, the United and England captain found himself embroiled in a battle of a different sorts – with wrestling star Wade Barrett.
It resulted in Wayne Rooney slapping Barrett across the face and leaving the Preston-born wrestler on the floor. Obviously this is all for show, but its great to see Wayne Rooney not letting the heavy criticism get to him, and hopefully this international break can give him some time to re-find form for both club and country.
