Player Ratings: Abysmal United battered by Valencia, Fred, Jones woeful

Sergio Romero – Didn’t really do much, aside from picking the ball out of his net twice. 5/10

Antonio Valencia – Fortunate to not see red. He just doesn’t have the energy to bomb up and down the field and make an impact on both sides of the ball. 4/10

Phil Jones – I mean, there are no words. That own goal, his positional awareness, his lack of composure. Shocking, just shocking. In six years, I think this is the lowest rating I’ve ever given. 1/10

Eric Bailly – Nowhere near as bad as his centre-back partner, but his confidence looks absolutely shot. 4/10

Marcos Rojo – Abject. Was rightly hooked at half-time after having rings run round him for 45 minutes. 2/10

Marouane Fellaini – I prefer him further up he field as opposed to sitting in the holding role. He was a bystander, at times. 3/10

Fred – A night to forget. He couldn’t pick a pass, lost possession far too often, he was just careless. I don’t think we’ll be seeing him for a while. 2/10

Paul Pogba – Missed a sitter (albeit he was flagged offside). He’s supposed to be our most talented player, our leader, trying to force his way into the team for the Liverpool game at the weekend. That’s not happening. 3/10

Juan Mata – I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. He’s not a winger, he doesn’t have the legs for it. When there is little-to-no movement in front of him, he’s ineffective. 4/10

Andreas Pereira – I genuinely forgot he was playing at times. It looks as though he’s already given up on his United career. 3/10

Romelu Lukaku – Awful, lacking in mobility, struggling for confidence. He never looked like getting a shot on target, nevermind scoring. 3/10

Ashley Young –Slightly less worse than Rojo.

Marcus Rashford – Has recently been the bright spark in a dull team. Nice to see him score again.

Jesse Lingard – Lively and energetic.
