David de Gea – A bystander as United were always on the front foot in this one. Didn’t have a save of note to make. 5/10
Diogo Dalot – Not as adventurous as we’d all have liked. Often pushed back. Did put in the effort, though. 4/10
Victor Lindelof – Looked like United’s best defender on the evening. Calm and composed throughout. 6/10
Lisandro Martinez – Unusually sloppy when in possession, but defended well enough. 5/10
Tyrell Malacia – Played well on his return to side. Looked threatening. Good with ball at feet. 6/10
Fred – Missed a free header. Worked hard in midfield. Had a quiet game overall. 4/10
Casemiro – Patrolled the midfield well. Hit the bar with a long-range effort. Pretty good. 6/10
Bruno Fernandes – Always trying to make things happen. Led the press. Passing sloppy at times. 5/10
Antony – Played a few crosses into the box, should have scored with first chance of second half. Subbed. 4/10
Marcus Rashford – Started sharply. Created a couple of early chances due to his hunger and work rate. Should have scored at least one. United’s best attacker. 5/10
Cristiano Ronaldo – Plenty of moves broke down when he was in possession. His passing could have been better. Didn’t get too much service when in the box, either. 4/10
Subs:
Luke Shaw – Got forward whenever possible.
Jadon Sancho – Played his part in the winning goal.
Christian Eriksen – Kept the ball moving.
Scott McTominay – Had a long range effort saved. Scored the winner deep into added time.
Man.Utd should practice taking goals on target and to learn to play tricks with the goalie before taking the strike in order to score. This is where the good goalies can save their team from so many goals and for the other side, it is just wasted chances.
