David de Gea – Made one outrageous save as the first half was winding down to preserve his clean sheet. Otherwise a relatively quiet night. 6/10

Diogo Dalot – Decent as per usual. Defended well when called upon. Not as attack-minded as needed on the night. 6/10

Victor Lindelof – Forming a nice partnership with Lisandro Martinez. Defended well. Won headers. Good with the ball at feet. 6/10

Lisandro Martinez – So good again. Marshalled the back four. Put his body on the line. Played some imaginative balls forward. 8/10

Luke Shaw – Had a good first 45 minutes. Linked up well with Alejandro Garnacho. 6/10

Casemiro – Solid. Protected his back four well. Tried to get forward wherever possible. 6/10

Christian Eriksen – Drifted in and out of the match. Not as effective as United needed in the final third. 5/10

Donny van de Beek – Nice to see him back out there, but didn’t take his chance. Just ineffective in pretty much every aspect. 3/10

Bruno Fernandes – Started on the right-hand side. Didn’t influence the game as much from out there. Still involved in some good attacks. 6/10

Alejandro Garnacho – United’s shining light in attack. Took his goal superbly. Consistently threatened his marker. Quality. 7/10

Cristiano Ronaldo – Involved in the only goal of the game, but that was about it. Struggled to have an impact. 5/10

Subs:

Marcus Rashford – Ran down far too many blind alleys.

Scott McTominay – Didn’t change the game.

Fred – Didn’t change the game.

Harry Maguire – Brought on as a striker but didn’t really get involved.
