Lee Grant – Had a quiet first-half, though was much busier in the second. Couldn’t do anything about either goal. One an excellent strike, the other a cruel deflection. 5/10
Ethan Laird – Impressive. Positionally sound, got forward where possible and showed real confidence with the ball at his feet. A solid debut from an individual standpoint. Should expect more opportunities. 7/10
Axel Tuanzebe – Nice to see him back out there. Looked a little rusty but the 90 minutes under his belt will do him the world of good. 5/10
Di’Shon Bernard –
Luke Shaw – Struggled positionally at times. That can be put down to rustiness. Did some fine work to carve out a golden chance for Chong. 4/10
James Garner – Very tidy. Kept things ticking over nicely alongside his pal Levitt. This is a duo that deserve more chances going forward. 7/10
Dylan Levitt – Brilliant. So calm in possession and he’s not afraid to take risks. Also willing to carry the ball up the field on his own if needed. Andreas Pereira who? 7/10
Angel Gomes – Drifted in and out of the game. Had a super free-kick saved late on. 5/10
Tahith Chong – Another unconvincing display for the fluffy-haired Dutchman. Missed an absolute sitter from a few yards out to kill the game and give United a 2-0 lead. 3/10
Jesse Lingard – Scored to get United on their way. Looked menacing in the first half, but faded in the second 45. 6/10
Mason Greenwood – Had a super shot saved late on. Led the line relatively well. Made some great runs and certainly looked composed. 5/10
D’Mani Mellor – Brought a directness to the field. Instigated proceedings by using his pace and aggression.
Largie Ramazani – Not enough time to mark.
Ethan Galbraith – Not enough time to mark.
