Player Ratings: AZ Alkmaar 0-0 Man United (Europa League, 2019)

David de Gea – Made a few decent saves to preserve his clean sheet. 6/10

Diogo Dalot – Solid defensively and was willing to bomb forward. I’d like to see better delivery, though. 5/10

Victor Lindelof – One of his better outings this term. Dealt with everything that came his way. 6/10

Marcos Rojo – Nice to see him play at centre-half. Brought some controlled aggression to the table… 6/10

Brandon Williams – Comfortably United’s best performer on the day. He wasn’t flashy or eccentric. 7/10

Nemanja Matic – He’s past his best now. Today was just another bang-average display. 5/10

Fred – Awful. Was careless in possession throughout. 3/10

Juan Mata – Poor. Didn’t create anything while his pressing was nonexistent. 3/10

Angel Gomes – After much pre-season hype, the young Englishman was rather quiet… 4/10

Daniel James – Played out of position through the middle. He wasn’t anywhere near as effective there as he is out wide. 5/10

Mason Greenwood – Fairly quiet. I guess that’s to be expected when you’re young and still learning. 4/10

Subs:

Jesse Lingard – Subbed on, but had to leave the pitch due to what looked like a hamstring injury.

Marcus Rashford – Was brought down in the box for what was a blatant penalty. Where’s VAR when you need it?

Scott McTominay – The game changed slightly when he came on, though he wasn’t given enough time to make a real impact.
