David de Gea – Made some brilliant saves in the first half. Although Chelsea had the better of the play, our keeper wasn’t really tested as the game wore on. 7/10
Antonio Valencia – Played outstanding and never gave in. He’s really turning into a guy our boss can rely on. 7/10
Phil Jones – Did well. The Englishman defended wonderfully throughout and credit to him. 6/10
Chris Smalling – Led from the back. Wasn’t really tested to be honest, but commanded well. Perhaps could have got out to Kante as he ripped one into the bottom corner. 6/10
Marcos Rojo – Our best player on the night. He was locked in a battle with Costa and shut the Spain international down. Even tried to get United moving forward too. 8/10
Matteo Darmian – Wasn’t bad on the defensive side of the ball. Very limited going forward, though. 4/10
Ander Herrera – Saw red in the first half. I’m just not sure why he went diving into a tackle literally seconds after the referee warned us for persistent fouling. 3/10
Paul Pogba – Started brilliantly, but when United went down to 10 he struggled. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt as it’s never easy against Chelsea. 5/10
Ashley Young – Worked tirelessly throughout. Perhaps the only criticism I can give is that his final ball wasn’t up to scratch. 4/10
Henrikh Mkhitaryan – The Armenia captain was subbed off when Herrera saw red. 5/10
Marcus Rashford – Nice to have him in the starting eleven. His pace was blistering and he really worried Luiz. Did well. 6/10
Subs:
Marouane Fellaini – Came on and acquitted himself nicely.
Jesse Lingard – Not enough time to have an impact.
