Sergio Romero – Made a superb stop towards the end of the first half. His distribution was poor though. 6/10
Matteo Darmian – Didn’t give the Brugge left-winger a sniff. Looked solid and got forward well. 7/10
Chris Smalling – Made plenty of key interceptions and won his fair share of headers. Commanded the back-four brilliantly. 7/10
Daley Blind – Played the ball out from the back nicely. 6/10
Luke Shaw – Shaw’s good form continues. He looked sharp and got forward plenty of times. Forming a good partnership with Depay. 7/10
Michael Carrick – Cool, calm and collected. Protected the back four and got United going forward. 7/10
Ander Herrera – Struggled in the first half but improved massively in the second. Took his goal wonderfully. 6/10
Memphis Depay – Played a wonderful ball through for Wayne Rooney’s opener. Looked a real menace. 7/10
Adnan Januzaj – Poor. Looked lost at times and his touch was wayward. Rightfully subbed at half-time. 4/10
Juan Mata – Picked up another assist as Rooney completed his hat-trick. Moved excellently and kept United ticking. 6/10
Wayne Rooney – Our captain is back. Scored a wonderful hat-trick, held the ball up brilliantly and led from the front. 9/10. Man of the Match.
Subs:
Bastian Schweinsteiger – Bossed the game. Beat five players with a defence splitting pass for Ander Herrera’s goal.
Ashley Young – Not enough time to mark.
Javier Hernandez – Fluffed a penalty. Missed a clear cut chance. Looks like his head was elsewhere.
