David de Gea – Another excellent performance from our #1. He made some excellent saves to keep a clean sheet. 6/10
Chris Smalling – Did well at right-back considering he has no natural width. He won his fair share of tackles. 6/10
Rio Ferdinand – I’ve been the first to criticise Rio this season but he was super tonight. He kept his composure and distributed the ball excellently. 7/10
Nemanja Vidic – The Serb may be leaving at the end of the season but he still put in a shift. He beat a powerful Palace attack in the air time and time again. Top display. 7/10
Patrice Evra – Won the penalty and grabbed an assist for the second United goal. Bombed forward all game long and looked a real menace. Man of the Match. 8/10
Marouane Fellaini – Much improved performance. He kept it simple but it was effective. Should’ve scored though. 6/10
Michael Carrick – Kept calm, picked his passes and played his normal game. Workmanlike. 6/10
Adnan Januzaj – Saw a lot of the ball but his final ball disappointed on occasion. He played an excellent pass to Patrice Evra that led to the penalty. 6/10
Wayne Rooney – Class. He played his heart out for the team once again and showed exactly why we signed him up for another five years. Wonderful goal. 7/10
Juan Mata – Controlled the game with incisive little passes. He was at the heart of some nice attacking moves and he kept the ball moving. 7/10
Robin van Persie – Took his penalty well and probably should’ve added another. Also rattled the bar before being substituted. 6/10
Subs:
Ryan Giggs – Not enough time to mark.
Antonio Valencia – Not enough time to mark.
Don’t know what game these ratings are from because the defence was shocking today, failed to intercept crosses all throughout the match and Smalling is not a RB, looked rubbish going forward and not fast enough getting back. Mata, chelski’s 2 time player of the season looked very average and before the penalty the team did not look like scoring and looked uncomfortable defending. Positives from DDG though who looked solid, Rooney not his best but still worked hard and took a chance for the goal that paid off, Fellani looked better in possession today and Evra looked half decent going forward resulting in the pen and assist, but still in my unprofessional oppinion not a man of the match performance, DDG or Chamak for man of match.
Dave is becoming one of the best PL keepers now. Thought the defence were ok personally, and kept a clean sheet which was important.
