David de Gea – Made a stunning save to keep the score level in the first 45. Wasn’t really tested from that point onwards. 7/10
Antonio Valencia – Solid defensively. He was limited in attack, and we didn’t see those bursting forward runs that we’ve become accustomed to. 5/10
Phil Jones – There were a couple of nervy moments from the England international today. Perhaps he’s still carrying a minor injury. 5/10
Chris Smalling – Did ok. Put his head on plenty of crosses, and didn’t allow any Liverpool runners in-behind. 6/10
Matteo Darmian – Poor. Every time he was in possession of the ball, the Italian just hoofed it forward aimlessly. Mo Salah ran him ragged. 3/10
Nemanja Matic – His physically dominating frame led to him winning tackles on a few occasions, but he didn’t really influence the match today. 5/10
Ander Herrera – Lively. His passing was sloppy against a poor Liverpool defence, but he shut down Coutinho for the most part. 5/10
Henrikh Mkhitaryan – Not great. Mkhitaryan just didn’t get into the match at all and was rightfully subbed midway through the second half. 3/10
Anthony Martial – He just doesn’t take his opportunity when it’s presented to him. Unfortunately, like so many others, Martial didn’t get going. 4/10
Ashley Young – Worked hard on both sides of the ball. Played some sloppy passes though. 5/10
Romelu Lukaku – Had one big chance to grab a goal but couldn’t take it. Cut a frustrated figure as he barely got a touch of the ball. 4/10
Subs:
Jesse Lingard – Looked full of energy, but didn’t get himself involved in the play.
Marcus Rashford – Didn’t see enough of the ball to make an impact.
Victor Lindelof – Subbed on during added-time to kill a bit of the clock.
