David de Gea – United’s Man of the Match by a country mile. Made some outstanding saves that stopped it getting worse. 7/10
Guillermo Varela – Not one of the worst on the pitch, but wasn’t great. Tried to get United moving forward but struggled. 5/10
Chris Smalling – Could have done more to organise the defence. Almost gifted Liverpool another goal. 3/10
Daley Blind – His passing was shocking and he couldn’t have looked any less like a defender. 3/10
Marcos Rojo – Tried his best to get United moving but had no outlet whatsoever. 4/10
Morgan Schneiderlin – Lost the midfield battle to a poor Liverpool side. Expect better. 4/10
Marouane Fellaini – Awful. Doesn’t offer any creativity and wasn’t really a threat in the air. Lucky to stay on the pitch. 3/10
Marcus Rashford – You have to feel sorry for the young man. Shoved out on the right hand side and then hauled off at half-time. Confidence destroying. 5/10
Juan Mata – Woeful from a man who was our captain on the night. Couldn’t pick a pass, got caught in possession far too often and offered nothing. 3/10
Memphis Depay – Gave away a stupid penalty and didn’t look threatening whatsoever. 3/10
Anthony Martial – Nonexistent throughout, and was a one factor. Wasn’t helped by the lack of service, but he was shocking. 4/10

Michael Carrick – Played a horrific ball that led to Liverpool’s second goal.
Ander Herrera – Looked lively.
Bastian Schweinsteiger – Nice to see him back.
