David de Gea – Made some decent saves, particularly to deny Kante. 6/10
Ashley Young – Picked up an early booking but was rock-solid against an in-form Eden Hazard from that point forward. Great display. 7/10
Chris Smalling – Dealt with Morata well. For the most part, he looked solid. I’d just like to see him command the back four more. 6/10
Victor Lindelof – Not a terrible afternoon. He did switch off on one or two occasions, but it was a better overall outing for the Swede. 5/10
Luke Shaw – Played well defensively. He struggled to get forward as much as he’d like, but he was ok. 6/10
Nemanja Matic – Struggled to start, but as the game wore on his presence in midfield was beginning to be felt. 6/10
Paul Pogba – Same old story. Switched off for their goal, did his utmost to bring United back into it. Why can’t he start each match like that? 5/10
Juan Mata – He just makes United tick. I don’t know what it is about him, but whenever he plays, the Reds just look far better when going forward. 6/10
Marcus Rashford – Struggled for the most part, but his pass into Martial for the second goal was perfect. 5/10
Anthony Martial – Scored two brilliant goals to drag his team into the lead. I felt he was hard done by getting subbed off late on. 9/10
Romelu Lukaku – Pretty poor in the first 45. Improved in the second, but he never looked like getting into a goalscoring position. That’s concerning. 5/10
Subs:
Ander Herrera – Tried to stem the Chelsea attack that was coming late on.
Andreas Pereira – Nice to see him back involved.
Alexis Sanchez – Looked lively.
