David de Gea – Made a couple of smart saves to keep United in front. 6/10
Antonio Valencia – Wore the captains armband and played well. Ran up and down the channel all game. Looked a threat. 7/10
Victor Lindelof – Barring one mistake, he kept Sergio Aguero in check for the most part. Solid. 6/10
Chris Smalling – A mixed bag. Had some great moments but a couple of equally poor ones. Lucky to not have given away a penalty. 5/10
Daley Blind – Struggled against Patrick Roberts defensively. He’s just not a full-back. 4/10
Ander Herrera – His usual, lively self. Nice to see him going toe-to-toe with Yaya Toure and coming out on top. 7/10
Paul Pogba – Oozes class. He’s such a dominant figure in the middle of the park. His range of passing is insane. 7/10
Jesse Lingard – Made some great runs but drifted in and out of proceedings far too often. 5/10
Henrikh Mkhitaryan – Looked super in the #10 role behind Romelu Lukaku. More often than not picked the right pass and was a real thorn in City’s side. 7/10
Marcus Rashford – Struggled against Walker, but as soon as he was switched onto the right, he thrived. Coolly slotted home to make it 2-0. 7/10
Romelu Lukaku – What a beast. Took his goal wonderfully well, held the ball up brilliantly and some of the runs he made were really dangerous. 8/10
Subs:
Sergio Romero – Looked a bit too casual for my liking at times, but made a few smart stops. 5/10
Phil Jones – Played well, dealt with Jesus excellently. Positionally, he was solid. 6/10
Matteo Darmian – Did a far better job at defending City’s pace than Blind did. Must be a shoe-in to start as left-back on the opening day. 6/10
Eric Bailly – Just as you’d expect he defended on the front-foot. He’s by far our most important centre-back going into the new season. 6/10
Michael Carrick – Cool, calm and composed. Standard. 6/10
Marouane Fellaini – Played his usual physical game and didn’t allow the City midfielders to settle. 6/10
Anthony Martial – Didn’t really get the chance to show off his talents in the 30 minutes he had on the pitch. 5/10
Timothy Fosu-Mensah – Made a couple of rash tackles but did his job well enough. 5/10
Andreas Pereira – Nice to see him in action in a derby match, and was toying with the City defence at times. 6/10
