Player Ratings: Man United beat Juventus 2-1 in Turin, Pogba dreadful, Sanchez sharp

David de Gea – Made a couple of smart, instinctive saves to keep the game competitive. 6/10

Ashley Young – His delivery was so poor on more than one occasion. I’d also like to see him bomb up the field more often and get involved in the attack. 4/10

Chris Smalling – Dealt with most that was thrown at him. 5/10

Victor Lindelof – Had a good night, but one lapse in concentration allowed Cristiano Ronaldo to score the opener. 6/10

Luke Shaw – Did okay, but sometimes he went wandering and left far too much space i-behind him. 5/10

Nemanja Matic – Poor. He just looks so slow, off the pace and positionally poor. We had a good season out of him last term, but he looks absolutely finished. 3/10

Paul Pogba – Just dreadful. Couldn’t pick a pass, tried to do too much in the one-on-one situation and defensively he let his man run off him far too often.

Ander Herrera – Was his usual busy self. He brought some much-needed energy to the midfield. 6/10

Jesse Lingard – Started brightly, moved well, but faded. That’s to be expected given he’s just back from injury. 5/10

Anthony Martial – Made some nice bursts forward. Tracked back well, too. 6/10

Alexis Sanchez – He just gives us that extra dimension up front. The energy and movement is infectious. Has to start the derby. 6/10

Subs:

Marcus Rashford – Stretched the game with his pace.

Juan Mata – What a sublime free-kick to draw United level.

Marouane Fellaini – Definitely changed the game with his physicality and presence.
