Player Ratings: Man United 2-2 Aston Villa (Premier League, 2019)

David de Gea – Couldn’t do anything about either goal. Was largely untested putting those aside. 5/10

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – Improved in the second 45, tested the keeper with a great effort. I’d still like to see more invention, mind. Probably United’s best player on the day. 6/10

Victor Lindelof – Took his header brilliantly. Looked nervous for the most part, though. 5/10

Harry Maguire – Not his finest outing. Booked early on and that set the tone for an average match. 4/10

Brandon Williams – Shaky. Got caught out for Mings’ equaliser and was overwhelmed at times. Booked too. 3/10

Fred – Not good enough. That much is obvious. His passing was wayward and he had no creative ideas. 4/10

Andreas Pereira – Not great. Positionally poor, sloppy in possession and lacking in quality. 3/10

Juan Mata – Non-existent. His lack of pace and physicality came to the fore. Just not good enough to be starting at this level. 3/10

Daniel James – Drifted in and out of the game. Didn’t really get the opportunity to utilise his pace on the counter-attack. 5/10

Marcus Rashford – Scored United’s first goal, albeit with a little luck. Seemed to be the only one with that little spark. 5/10

Anthony Martial – Continues to frustrate. There’s no in-between with Martial. He’s either brilliant or woeful, yesterday, it was the latter… 3/10

Subs:

Jesse Lingard – Quiet.

Luke Shaw – Got booked within minutes of being subbed on.

Mason Greenwood – Didn’t get into the game.
