Player Ratings: Man United 3-0 Colchester (Carabao Cup)

Sergio Romero – Didn’t really have an awful lot to do except watch. Made a couple of saves he’d be able to make in his sleep. 6/10

Ashley Young – Pretty solid defensively, though his final ball into the box was lacking. 5/10

Axel Tuanzebe – Nice to see him involved. Played well. Headed straight down the tunnel as he was substituted. Hopefully, he’s not injured. 5/10

Harry Maguire – Unlucky not to score late on. Was willing to take matters into his own hands and maraud forward. 6/10

Luke Shaw – Did alright. Burst forward on a few occasions and offered himself as an outlet. Positionally solid. 6/10

Nemanja Matic – At this stage, I’m not quite sure what he’s good at. 5/10

Andreas Pereira – Actually played some sumptuous balls into the penalty area. His short passing left a lot to be desired at times though. 5/10

Mason Greenwood – Played some nice passes into the box. Unfortunately, didn’t really get the chance to show off his killer instinct. 5/10

Juan Mata – In the first 45, he actually looked like the only player who wanted to carve out openings and win the game. 6/10

Marcus Rashford – United’s best despite a poor start. Scored an excellent goal to get the Reds on their way. His hot streak continues. 7/10

Anthony Martial – Started slowly but got better as the game wore on. Scored the third goal which killed the game. 6/10

Subs:

Brandon Williams – Made a couple of nice tackles.

Jesse Lingard – Did okay.

James Garner – Kept things ticking over.
