David de Gea – Couldn’t do anything about the goal. Pretty quiet putting that aside. 6/10
Aaron Wan-Bissaka – Made some great tackles to stop Brighton in their stride. I’d still like to see more from him going forward, though. 5/10
Victor Lindelof – Still looks so shaky sometimes. His passing was extremely sloppy too. 4/10
Harry Maguire – Great to see him wearing the captain’s armband. He commanded the backline well, though he was careless in possession on a couple of occasions. 5/10
Brandon Williams – Absolutely outstanding on his full Premier League debut. Positionally brilliant, strong in the tackle and so composed. Man of the Match. 8/10
Scott McTominay – Was probably carrying a knock at kick-off but my it didn’t slow him down. The Scotland international was absolutely everywhere. Winning tackles, getting United moving forward and eve scoring one for himself. Unfortunately, he had to be stretchered off. Hopefully, the injury isn’t too serious. 8/10
Fred – Certainly one of his best games in United colours. Tidy on the ball and brought some bite to the midfield. He looked confident for a change and it was great to see. 7/10
Andreas Pereira – Like Fred, he played well. Suits playing further up the field as he can use his creativity and take risks. 6/10
Daniel James – Always menacing when in possession. His pace is truly frightening and he used it excellently throughout the game. He gets kicked about constantly but the Welshman is certainly a tough cookie. Unlucky to not pick up an assist after a Rashford howler. 8/10
Marcus Rashford – Missed an absolute gimme to make it four, but took his goal brilliantly. Showcased some stunning skill throughout the 90 minutes. There aren’t many better sights than a fully fit and firing Rashford. 8/10
Anthony Martial – Held the ball up superbly and laid it off well for his pal Rashford. Kept the Brighton defence guessing due to his unpredictability. 7/10
Subs:
Jesse Lingard – Actually looked decent.
Mason Greenwood – Not enough time to mark.
Marcos Rojo – Not enough time to mark.
