Player Ratings: Man United 4-1 Newcastle United (Premier League, 2019)

David de Gea – Had a fairly quiet afternoon following the Newcastle opener. 5/10

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – Picked up an assist that’ll do his confidence the world of good. Solid defensively. 7/10

Harry Maguire – It can be argued he was at fault for the Newcastle goal, but didn’t put a foot wrong from that point forward. 6/10

Victor Lindelof – The Ice Man had a quiet game, but as a centre-half sometimes that’s pretty good. 6/10

Luke Shaw – Decent. Did his job well defensively. If I’m being picky I’d like to see more from him in the attacking third. 5/10

Scott McTominay – Picked up a booking in the first minute which hampered him throughout the game. Rightly subbed. 5/10

Fred – Continues to confuse. The Brazilian grew into the game but the sloppy start can’t be ignored. Average. 5/10

Andreas Pereira – He was okay, but I’m still not sure what his strengths are as a footballer. Showed off some nice tricks and flicks late on. 5/10

Mason Greenwood – He’s so clinical. Give him half-a-chance and more often than not he’ll hit the back of the net. Quality. 6/10

Marcus Rashford – Scored a cracking header to all-but end the game at 3-1. His pace was always a problem for the Newcastle defence. 6/10

Anthony Martial – Scored a brace. One goal got United back in the game and the other killed it off. Excellent. 7/10

Subs:

Paul Pogba – Nice to see him back out there.

Juan Mata – Played a sumptuous ball into the box.

Jesse Lingard – Didn’t really get involved.
