David de Gea – Made a horrendous blunder which perfectly summed up the evening. It’s a shame because he has so often been our saviour. 2/10
Victor Lindelof – Played as a full-back and did about as well as you’d expect for a man playing out of position. It was always going to be tough for him. 5/10
Chris Smalling – Made some decent tackles, for the most part, he kept Luis Suarez out of the game. 5/10
Phil Jones – For my liking, he’s not calm enough when in possession. Defensively he did alright. 4/10
Ashley Young – Just nowhere near good enough anymore. Too slow, sloppy with the ball at his feet and takes too long in terms of decision-making. 1/10
Scott McTominay – Nowhere near as good as he was in the first leg. It’s a real chasm of fire when you’re playing against Busquets and Rakitic, mind… 5/10
Fred – Struggled with the pace of the game and made way too many mistakes. He had to be the link from midfield to attack and the Brazilian wasn’t good enough. 3/10
Paul Pogba – Once again disappointed on the big stage. For how long is he going to get away with that? 3/10
Jesse Lingard – I heard his name mentioned about four times on commentary. That tells you absolutely everything you need to know. 4/10
Anthony Martial – Continued to be consistently inconsistent. We need more from him. 3/10
Marcus Rashford – Had a golden chance early on. Made some good runs, but like his attacking teammates, wasn’t in the game enough. 5/10
Subs:
Diogo Dalot – Looked lively.
Romelu Lukaku – Didn’t get on the ball enough.
Alexis Sanchez – Nearly scored late on with a header.
