Player Ratings: Man United draw 0-0 as injuries overshadow game

David de Gea – Genuinely didn’t have a save to make. 6/10

Ashley Young – Defensively solid, but his passing was sloppy. 5/10

Chris Smalling – Brilliant. Dealt with Roberto Firmino and Daniel Sturridge excellently. 7/10

Victor Lindelof – Cool, calm and composed. Looks a real top player and he’s only getting better. 7/10

Luke Shaw – One of his better perfrmances. Didn’t give Mo Salah a sniff of an opportunity. Won headers, won tackles, was everywhere. Didn’t put a foot wrong. 8/10

Scott McTominay – Superb all things considered. Stuck to his task, did his defensive work and kept it simple. 7/10

Ander Herrera – Left midway through the first half with injury. Hopefully, it’s not too serious. 5/10

Juan Mata – Also hit with the injury curse. He lasted until close to half-time but he never really did anything of note. 5/10

Marcus Rashford – What an absolute warrior. He was playing on one leg for the most part but he never stopped working for the cause. Wonderful to see. 7/10

Romelu Lukaku – Played a sublime ball into Lingard who should’ve scored. Putting that aside, he was average at best. 5/10

Subs:

Jesse Lingard – Never looked fit. Subbed on and then off again. You question the physio’s decision who cleared him for action. 5/10

Andreas Pereira – He did a job. With his back against the wall he stood up to be counted and he deserves praise for that. 5/10

Alexis Sanchez – Worked hard and looked lively. It was a mildly promising game that we desperately need him to build on. 6/10
