Player Ratings: Man United dross again, Lukaku poor, Bailly shaky, two points dropped

David de Gea – He was an onlooker for the most part. If I’m being picky, his distribution could have been better. 5/10

Antonio Valencia – He just doesn’t have the legs to bomb up and down the field for 90 minutes. He literally offered nothing when United were on the front-foot. Diogo Dalot deserves his chance. 3/10

Chris Smalling – He was ok for the most part. Once again, Smalling was United’s best defender. He dealt with Michy Batshuayi well. 6/10

Eric Bailly – Nice to see him back in the team, but he hardly brings calmness to the table. He’s great in the tackle but I’d like to see him try and pick out a teammate rather than just hoofing it long. 5/10

Luke Shaw – United’s best outfield player. Again. Shaw looked hungry, he fought for the cause, he wanted it. Shame his teammates didn’t help out much… 6/10

Nemanja Matic – Slow. Leggy. Lethargic. He didn’t do his defensive duties, while offensively he was a non-factor. What’s the point? 3/10

Marouane Fellaini – Fought, clawed, won headers, won tackles. He was ok, but he lacks in creativity. 4/10

Paul Pogba – You could tell he was trying to make things happen, but his teammates weren’t moving or finding the free space. Don’t get me wrong, it was by far a vintage performance from him, but the effort was there. 5/10

Alexis Sanchez – Awful. He didn’t move for the ball. When he was in possession, nothing came from it. Not a good day for the Chilean, who was rightly hooked after an hour. 3/10

Marcus Rashford – Tried hard to break Valencia down, but he drifted in and out of the match far too often. 4/10

Romelu Lukaku – Awful. His movement was just non-existent. I guess he finds it tough to get into the game when the ball doesn’t come his way that often, but you do expect more. 3/10

Anthony Martial – Injected a bit of pace and positivity.
