David de Gea – Couldn’t do anything about the goal, but made some superb saves once again. 7/10
Antonio Valencia – Did well up against James Milner despite not being a natural right-back by any stretch of the imagination. 6/10
Chris Smalling – Although it was Halloween on Friday, Chris Smalling certainly saved his horror show for today. Both bookings were stupid to say the least, and he cost his side badly. 1/10
Marcos Rojo – Struggled with Aguero’s pace, but you find it hard not to love his passion for the shirt. 5/10
Luke Shaw – Hugely impressive. His defensive ability is excellent for a youngster, and he’s great going forward, too. 7/10
Marouane Fellaini – Another excellent performance from Marouane Fellaini, as he continues to work his way into Louis van Gaal’s long-term plans. Should have scored late on though. 7/10
Daley Blind – Started the game well but faded as the match went on. 6/10
Wayne Rooney – Great to have our captain back, his energy and presence is always important. Looked good, kept things neat and tidy and on the whole did well. 6/10
Adnan Januzaj – Was unfortunately scarified due to Smalling’s red card. Looked lively and the only way City could stop him was by hacking him down. 6/10
Angel Di Maria – Shown glimpses of what he is capable of, but sees much less of the ball out wide. I don’t think its a coincidence that he had his best season ever playing in the midfield. 5/10
Robin van Persie – Struggled to get involved after the red card as you’d expect. 5/10
Subs:
Michael Carrick – Did very well upon his return.
Paddy McNair – What a talent this lad is.
