Player Ratings: Manchester United 0-0 Everton – Wayne Rooney testimonial

David de Gea – Had a quiet afternoon. Wasn’t really tested whatsoever. 6/10

Antonio Valencia – Looked solid defensively and always bombed forward where possible. His crossing wasn’t the best though. 5/10

Eric Bailly – Put in another commanding performance at centre-back. Looks a shoe-in to start against Leicester this weekend. 6/10

Daley Blind – Looked calm and composed and got United moving forward. However, he struggled with the aerial threat and physicality of Romelu Lukaku. 6/10

Luke Shaw – Made a buccaneering run in the first half, and defended diligently. Superb to see him back playing again. 7/10

Ander Herrera – Looked his usual lively self, but didn’t really provide that cutting edge. 5/10

Michael Carrick – Calm and composed. Commanded the middle of the field excellently. 6/10

Anthony Martial – Quiet. Looked a yard or two off the pace but that was expected due to him only just returning for pre-season. 3/10

Wayne Rooney – Looked pretty decent on his special night. Linked up with Ibra nicely, but it’s a partnership that will take time. 6/10

Jesse Lingard – Made some darting runs forward but didn’t really have any real composure to pick a pass or find the back of the net. 5/10

Zlatan Ibrahimovic – Had a couple of half chances, but you feel he isn’t anywhere close to full fitness yet. 5/10

Ashley Young – Struggled for the most part. Didn’t really offer an awful lot to the cause in terms of attacking.

Morgan Schneiderlin – Calm and composed. Simply has to be in Mourinho’s plans this season.

Marcos Rojo – Did alright for the most part defensively.

Marouane Fellaini – Won a few headers and held the ball up well.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan – Had a fairly quiet second half. Hopefully, he’ll improve as he gets to know his new teammates.

Phil Jones – Looks a real concern defensively.

Marcus Rashford – Plenty of pace and directness on display.

Memphis Depay – Simply has to be given more game-time to prove his worth.

Matteo Darmian – Came on as a right-back. Will certainly be a solid option for Jose.

Sergio Romero – Didn’t have anything to do.

Juan Mata – Played some nice passes.
