Player Ratings: Manchester United 1-0 Tottenham Hotspur

Sergio Romero – Did very well in terms of shot-stopping. His distribution was extremely poor though. 6/10

Matteo Darmian – Superb from minute one. He won plenty of tackles and got forward all the time. Fantastic debut. Man of the Match. 8/10

Chris Smalling – Led from the back. Was strong, athletic, won the ball and kept Harry Kane at bay. 8/10

Daley Blind – Was a concern before kick-off playing at centre-half, but did well alongside Smalling. 6/10

Luke Shaw – Great defending and bombed forward in attack. Played well. 7/10

Michael Carrick – Made key interceptions and spreader the play wonderfully. Typical Michael Carrick. 7/10

Morgan Schneiderlin – Grew into the game, won plenty of tackles and bossed from the back as the match went on. 6/10

Juan Mata – Was on the periphery of things. I still feel he’s much better in the middle. 5/10

Ashley Young – Kept Kyle Walker extremely busy down the left. 6/10

Memphis Depay – Looked threatening, but the pace of the game got to him at times. He’ll adapt and improve. 6/10

Wayne Rooney – Kept moving and using the ball but looked sluggish at times. 6/10

Subs:

Ander Herrera – Looked busy.

Bastian Schweinsteiger – Kept it simple and controlled the game.

Antonio Valencia – Not enough time to mark.
