Anders Lindegaard: Hardly put a foot (or a hand) wrong. Dealt well to deal with some long range efforts. Couldn’t have done much with the goals, as they were both pretty much unstoppable. Went most of the game untroubled. Distribution could have been better – 6/10
Chris Smalling: One of United’s better players in the first half, trying to make something happen on the right. Fell away during the second half and was very predictable going forward. – 5/10
Jonny Evans: The best of the defenders however still not outstanding. Slow to react for the goals. Defended solid enough and dealt well with Wilfred Bony’s power throughout. – 6/10
Rio Ferdinand: Rio is clearly not the player he once was. Looked uneasy on the ball. Wasn’t comfortable when hurried. Was injured and subbed in the second half. – 3/10
Alex Buttner: Was brilliant on the attack and set up the United goal with a sublime cross to Hernandez. Looked solid enough in defence. – 7/10
Antonio Valencia: A very poor game for Valencia. Provided not a lot going forward. Some good link up play with Smalling in the first half. Was subbed in the second half. – 4/10
Darren Fletcher: Commanded the centre of the park throughout the game. Always available to receive the ball and keep United moving. Played well defensively as well. Had to fill in at right back in the last 10 minutes. Man of the match in terms of United players. – 8/10
Tom Cleverley: Went missing for large parts of the game and did nothing with the ball when he did have it. Poor showing from Cleverley and needs to improve. – 2/10
Shinji Kagawa: Started the game out wide left and was largely ineffective. Came into the middle as the game went on however nothing to write home about. Took too much time on the ball in the final third. – 4/10
Danny Welbeck: Again went missing for large parts. Looked good on the ball when he had it and was United’s most direct player. – 5/10
Javier Hernandez: Scored United’s only goal. Missed a couple chances in the second half. Constantly busy however looked frustrated due to lack of service from midfield. – 6/10
Substitutes –
Adnan Januzaj: Provided some much needed impetus down the right wing in the second half. However failed to deliver the final ball. – 6/10
Fabio: Was a frantic 3 minutes until he was sent off for a heavy tackle. Little to comment on and will not help his fight to resurrect his United career. – N/A
Michael Carrick: Came on with very little time to influence the game. – N/A
