David de Gea – Made a couple of good saves. 6/10

Antonio Valencia – Did his defensive duties well, but his final ball was lacking at times. 6/10

Chris Smalling – Absolutely bossed it. Didn’t give the Sunderland attackers an inch. 7/10

Daley Blind – Played a wonderful ball to Juan Mata in the build-up to the opener. Looked solid. 7/10

Matteo Darmian – Did well considering being played out of position. 6/10

Morgan Schneiderlin – Does the ugly things well. Expect more from him going forward though. 5/10

Michael Carrick – Misplaced a few passes, but still controlled the game. 6/10

Juan Mata – Grabbed an assist and scored United’s third. Made plenty of important passes and shown some nice touches. Superb. 8/10 Man of the Match.

Wayne Rooney – His best league game of the season comfortably. Scored a tap-in, played some key passes and kept United on the front foot. 7/10

Anthony Martial – Led the line wonderfully. Held the ball up superbly, grabbed an assist and unlucky not to have two. 7/10

Subs:

Phil Jones – Did well upon his return.

Bastian Schweinsteiger – As per usual, bossed the game.

Ashley Young – Grabbed a nice assist late on, looked threatening.
