Player Ratings: Manchester United 3-0 Valerenga – Fantastic Fellaini & influential Pogba

Sergio Romero – Untested. His distribution was pretty average though. 5/10

Matteo Darmian – Named as a late starter in the place of Fosu-Mensah. He played well on both sides of the ball. 6/10

Eric Bailly – He’s just a tank. Not many have the confidence to play as such a front-footed defender and he was superb as per usual. 7/10

Phil Jones – Alongside Bailly, he was solid. The pair are forming an excellent partnership. The best thing for Jones right now is that he’s fit. 6/10

Daley Blind – Did alright, but he’s just not a natural full-back. He lacks the pace, particularly when going forward. 5/10

Michael Carrick – Controlled things nicely just sitting in front of the back four. 6/10

Marouane Fellaini – Had a storming game capped off by an excellently taken headed goal. Well played. 7/10

Paul Pogba – Played superbly and ran the show. His physical ability as well as his on-ball brilliance. He was just too much for Valerenga to handle. 7/10

Henrikh Mkhitaryan – As per usual he went directly as the Valerenga back four and posed all kinds of problems. 6/10

Juan Mata – Nice to see the Spaniard back in action. He picked those little passes excellently. 6/10

Marcus Rashford – His pace was a real threat throughout, although, he lacked that final pass or killer finish. 6/10

Subs:

Demetri Mitchell – Bombed up and down the left-hand side. Did his defensive duties well. 6/10

Chris Smalling – Breezed through the game in all honesty. Wasn’t really tested. 6/10

Axel Tuanzebe – He’s such a talented individual. Tuanzebe is so calm and composed on the ball, and is a great tackler. 7/10

Victor Lindelof – Put in a much more calm and composed performance this evening, which can only be good for his confidence. 6/10

Tim Fosu-Mensah – Looked solid as a right-back. Didn’t give Valerenga a sniff of an opportunity. 6/10

Andreas Pereira – He’s willing to try something out of the ordinary to create opportunities. 6/10

Ander Herrera – Drifted in and out of the game, but on the whole he did alright. 5/10

Anthony Martial – Wreaked havoc just as you’d expect. I can sense a big season coming from the young man. 7/10

Romelu Lukaku – Powered a header home in typical fashion. His all-round game was excellent. 7/10

Scott McTominay – Took his goal wonderfully well. As per usual, he didn’t look out of place amongst some of the best in the world. 7/10

Joel Pereira – Was an onlooker for the most part. I cannot remember him having a save to make. 6/10
