Player Ratings: Manchester United 3-2 Southampton – King Zlatan Ibrahimovic

David de Gea – Quiet. Made a couple of decent saves, perhaps could’ve done better with Southampton’s first. 5/10

Antonio Valencia – Average. Bombed down the right-hand side but he didn’t have that quality in the final pass. 4/10

Chris Smalling – This man made us miss Phil Jones. His positioning was just awful. 3/10

Eric Bailly – His pace getting back was really key at times, but this certainly wasn’t his best performance in the red shirt. 5/10

Marcos Rojo – Had an absolute shocker. Got passed so easily throughout the match, I’m not sure how he didn’t get subbed off. 2/10

Ander Herrera – Certainly not his best afternoon, but put in a peach of a cross to secure United’s victory. 5/10

Paul Pogba – Very poor by his standards. His passing was wayward, and he just didn’t turn up. 3/10

Jesse Lingard – Scored yet another Wembley goal, and credit to him for that. I think he was unlucky to be subbed in the second half. 6/10

Juan Mata – Sacrificed to bring in an extra man in the middle of the park. Didn’t have the busiest of afternoons. 4/10

Anthony Martial – Very quiet in the first half, and he didn’t improve much in the second 45. You expect better. 4/10

Zlatan Ibrahimovic – What a player, what a man. Scored two goals including the all-important winner. The icon of this team, and he deserved it. 8/10

Subs:

Michael Carrick – Came on and his composure really helped the team.

Marcus Rashford – Shown his pace.

Marouane Fellaini – Helped see the game out.
