Player Ratings: Manchester United 4-0 Everton – Magnificent Matic

David de Gea – Made a couple of stunning saves in the second half to preserve his clean sheet. 7/10

Antonio Valencia – Scored an absolutely wonderful goal in the early stages to get United on their way. Defended well. 8/10

Eric Bailly – He’s a monster and I love his front-footed style of defending. Didn’t give Wayne Rooney a sniff throughout and won everything. 7/10

Phil Jones – Following a blip last weekend against Stoke, he was back to his best this afternoon. Calmness personified. 6/10

Ashley Young – Came in at left-back and defensively, he didn’t put a foot wrong. 6/10

Nemanja Matic – I still cannot believe that Chelsea let Matic join us. He’s the perfect defensive midfielder and he was outstanding today.

Marouane Fellaini – Doesn’t have the creativity of Paul Pogba but he’s good at what he does. An excellent squad player to have. 6/10

Henrikh Mkhitaryan – Drifted in and out of the game but scored a crucial goal to give United some breathing room. 6/10

Juan Mata – Showed a few glimpses of his brilliance, but it just didn’t come off for him today. 6/10

Marcus Rashford – Not his finest hour. He was pretty quiet before rightfully being subbed in the second 45. 4/10

Romelu Lukaku – Scored a goal and picked up an assist. He stepped up when it mattered most, and wasn’t scared to give the Everton fans some stick. 7/10

Subs:

Jesse Lingard – Lively, but didn’t really have that bit of end product.

Ander Herrera – Nice to see him back. Offered something on both sides of the ball.

Anthony Martial – He just keeps on scoring. Terrorised the Everton back line when he came on.
