David de Gea – Didn’t really have an awful lot to do, aside from picking the ball out of his net twice… 6/10
Antonio Valencia – Had an absolute blinder. Bagged three brilliant assists and did his defensive duties diligently. 8/10
Eric Bailly – He looks so calm and composed on the ball. Brilliant to see. 6/10
Daley Blind – Doesn’t have the physical presence of a standard Premier League defender, but his reading of the game is excellent. 6/10
Luke Shaw – Bucaneered up and down the left-hand flank all game which was good to see. 6/10
Morgan Schneiderlin – Had a mixed afternoon. He simply has to do the defensive duties better going forward, though. 5/10
Ander Herrera – Looked lively, but that’s about it. His positioning was wayward, and he can be so rash at times. 4/10
Henrikh Mkhitaryan – A quiet 45 minutes for the Armenian, but hopefully we’ll see him get involved more. 6/10
Wayne Rooney – Had an appalling first half but more than made up for it with two goals in the second. 6/10
Anthony Martial – His pace was blistering, and he showed real trickery in possession. Superb. 7/10
Zlatan Ibrahimovic – It took him just three minutes to find the back of the net in United red. What a goal it was too, a special scissor kick. 7/10
Subs:
Sergio Romero – Didn’t have an awful lot to do.
Phil Jones – Looked strong in defence. Could well start the Premier League opener alongside Eric Bailly due to Smalling’s ban.
Marouane Fellaini – Scored a brilliant looping header.
Michael Carrick – Brought calmness and composure to the table. Still an excellent squad player at 35.
Juan Mata – His vision, passing and intelligence was a joy to watch.
Ashley Young – Plenty of pace but very little end product.
Jesse Lingard – Looked menacing. Has a real role to play this season.
Marcus Rashford – What a threat. His pace was blistering and the Galatasaray defenders looked truly scared of him.
Matteo Darmian – Came on at left-back and did a good job.
Memphis Depay – His trickery was great to see. Hopefully he has a lift in confidence and he could be brilliant this term.
