Player Ratings: Manchester United beat Ajax 2-0 to win the Europa League

Sergio Romero – Wasn’t really tested, but when called upon he did a good job. Comfortable night. 7/10

Antonio Valencia – Finished the season exactly as he started it. Buccaneering up and down that right-hand side. 7/10

Chris Smalling – ‘Mike Smalling’ came back tonight and my did he play well. He put his head on everything. 7/10

Daley Blind – Calm, assuring and composed. His positioning was top drawer. 7/10

Matteo Darmian – The best player on the pitch in my opinion. Completely shut down that left-hand side with the help of Daley Blind. 8/10

Marouane Fellaini – Absolutely brilliant from first minute to last. Won everything, and that is a credit to his mental toughness. What a performance. 8/10

Ander Herrera – Very lively as per usual. Didn’t give Ajax’s young, vibrant attackers a chance. 6/10

Paul Pogba – Put in a performance of true quality. Bossed the game and although he got lucky with his goal, he deserved it. 7/10

Henrikh Mkhitaryan – In truth, he had a poor afternoon but he scored the crucial goal. 5/10

Juan Mata – Having his creativity on the pitch became key. Nice to see him back involved and pulling the strings. 6/10

Marcus Rashford – Ran the Ajax defence ragged. What a season he has had yet again. 6/10

Subs:

Jesse Lingard – Had a golden opportunity to make it three, which he squandered.

Anthony Martial – Nice to see him get on the pitch.

Wayne Rooney – Will that be the last time we see him in our famous jersey? It’s possible.
