Player Ratings: Newcastle United 1-0 Manchester United (Premier League, 2019)

David de Gea – Couldn’t do anything about the goal. Had little to do aside from that. 5/10

Diogo Dalot – Did fairly well. Defended solidly and tried to get forward. Somewhat typically, though, he went off injured. 5/10

Axel Tuanzebe – Comfortably United’s best player again. Shifted out of position to right-back due to the Dalot injury ad still performed. 7/10

Harry Maguire – Should have closed down Longstaff for the Newcastle goal. Missed a free header from five yards out in the first half. 3/10

Ashley Young – Remains a one-trick pony. All he does is plays the lofted ball down the line and hopes for the best. 4/10

Scott McTominay – Not bad. Did his job well but I’d like to see him burst forward more. 5/10

Fred – His passing at times was just awful. He doesn’t provide the cutting edge and creative spark that is needed. 3/10

Juan Mata – Relatively quiet. Improved in the second 45, but didn’t do anywhere near enough. The lack of movement around him doesn’t help, mind… 4/10

Andreas Pereira – What is he good at? Apart from running around a lot I’m still not sure what his strength is. 3/10

Daniel James – Drifted in and out of the game. Played a couple of threatening balls into the box. 4/10

Marcus Rashford – Too quiet in the first half. Improved in the second, but didn’t really do anything to threaten. 3/10

Subs:

Marcos Rojo – Did alright.

Mason Greenwood – Didn’t really get into the game.

Tahith Chong – Not enough time to mark.
