Player Ratings: Newcastle United 3-3 Manchester United – Woeful Smalling & Fellaini

David de Gea – Made some outstanding saves, but couldn’t stop the penalty and two fantastic Newcastle goals from open play. 6/10

Ashley Young – Looked a menace going forward, but struggled with Newcastle players running at him. 5/10

Chris Smalling – By far his worst game of the season, and at fault for the first two Newcastle goals. 3/10

Daley Blind – Struggled with the physicality of Mitrovic and the pace of Wijnaldum. 4/10

Matteo Darmian – Had an extremely poor second half. Looked wayward and out of position far too often. 4/10

Morgan Schneiderlin – Did well for the most part, but I’d like to see some more out of him going forward. 6/10

Marouane Fellaini – Missed a golden opportunity to put the game to bed, and gave away far too many fouls. 2/10

Anthony Martial – Brought pace to the table which was great. We’d like to see more cutting edge though. 5/10

Ander Herrera – Looked lively for the first half and the first 15 minutes of the second. Bossed the game, but then became extremely tired. 7/10

Jesse Lingard – Took United’s second goal wonderfully, but definitely should have added a third in the second half. Subbed not long after. 6/10

Wayne Rooney – Back to his brilliant best. Scored a penalty, added an assist and then rounded off an excellent evening with a thunderous strike. 8/10

Subs:

Memphis Depay – Looked lively.

Juan Mata – Not enough time to mark.
