Player Ratings: Pogba shocking & Sanchez quiet as Man United lose 2-0

David de Gea – Distribution was shocking at times. Made some decent saves. 4/10

Antonio Valencia – Probably United’s best player as he actually looked interested in trying to get back into the game. 5/10

Chris Smalling – He was woeful, particularly in that first-half. I’ve still not worked out what he was trying to do for Spurs’ opener. 2/10

Phil Jones – Scored a poor own-goal after going for the ball with the wrong foot. Got bullied by Kane. 3/10

Ashley Young – Caught out of position sometimes. Didn’t influence the match offensively. 4/10

Nemanja Matic – He looked tired which is a huge concern. Bypassed far too easily. 4/10

Paul Pogba – Probably his worst game in a United shirt. Got dispossessed far too easily, his passing was wayward and he just didn’t look like he fancied it. 3/10

Jesse Lingard – Quiet. You expect more from him, particularly when it comes to making the opposing defence move. 4/10

Anthony Martial – The only attacker who looked at least slightly menacing. 5/10

Alexis Sanchez – Pretty average. His passing was wayward and it certainly looked as though he hadn’t played with these guys before… Maybe he was trying too hard. 4/10

Romelu Lukaku – Had one half-chance, but aside from that he just couldn’t get anything going. 4/10

Subs:

Marouane Fellaini – Subbed on and off within 7 minutes. I’ve no idea why.

Juan Mata – Didn’t get involved.

Ander Herrera – Gave the ball away far too often.
