Player Ratings: QPR 0-2 United

United travelled to London today in an attempt to get back to winning ways following last weeks defeat at home to Southampton. QPR were today’s hosts and gave United a difficult game, but goals from substitutes Marouane Fellaini and James Wilson gave United the 3 points to move them back into 3rd place in the League. Here is how the players faired today.

David de Gea: Everywhere you go, always take de Gea with you. Stopped everything despite being left exposed by the defence time and time again, especially in the first half. 8/10

Phil Jones: Poor first half but more suited in the second half when we switched to a back 4. Strangely was on corner taking duty, but it’s not something I want to see again. 5/10

Jonny Evans: Playing as the central defender of the back 3 but seemed to struggle badly, was replaced by James Wilson in the second half as United went to a 4-4-2 system. 4/10

Marcos Rojo: First game back from injury and did relatively well. Put himself about and enjoyed the physical battle against Zamora and Austin. 7/10

Antonio Valencia: Right wing back once again, set up the opening goal. Got forward well but can’t take a throw in. 6/10

Michael Carrick: A steady performance from the midfielder. Moved the ball around well, but was much better with the system change. 6/10

Wayne Rooney: I was disappointed in Rooney today, sloppy on the ball at times and not effective as a central midfielder. 5/10

Daley Blind: Playing Left (wing) Back and was EXCELLENT today. Made numerous interceptions, and tackles as well as going forward well when needed. Composed on and off the ball. 8/10 – Man of the Match

Juan Mata: Like Rooney, a disappointing performance from the Spaniard. Couldn’t string a pass together and was outmuscled time after time. Replaced at half time. 4/10

Angel Di Maria: Once again, started the game up front, and failed to influence the game with his pace and movement. Dropped deeper with the shape change and United saw instant improvement. There’s a reason he was voted as a central midfielder in the FIFA team of the year…. 6/10

Radamel Falcao: The headlines will say another game without a goal, but when the service he got was so poor then what do we expect. Had his chances however and could/should scored if it weren’t for good goalkeeping and defending from QPR. Dropped deep and mucked in when needed and did ok. 6/10

Substitutes
Marouane Fellaini: Came on at half time and scored the opening goal almost as instantly as the formation. Played well and used his size to bolster the midfield. 7/10

James Wilson: Replaced Evans as United went to 4-4-2 diamond, joining Falcao up front. His pace opened up the QPR back 4, twice putting the ball in a dangerous area, but just in front of Falcao. Topped off his performance with a fine goal, his first since his league debut last season. 7/10
