Player Ratings: Shakhtar 1-1 United

David de Gea – Made a few excellent saves including a close range reflex shot. Distributed well and stopped the cross from coming in by meeting the ball. 6/10

Rafael – Rafael offers us so much that other right-backs in our squad don’t – natural width. He  played well today, but struggled defensively on occasion. 6/10

Nemanja Vidic – Nemanja Vidic is a warrior. He put his head on everything and wasn’t afraid to put his body on the line for the United cause. Man of the Match. 8/10

Chris Smalling – Didn’t look out of place next to Vidic. Read the game well and made some key tackles and interceptions. 7/10

Patrice Evra – Did well for the most part but unusually offered little going forward. 6/10

Marouane Fellaini – Probably the worst player on the pitch. He picked up the assist for Danny Welbeck’s goal but struggled to pick out a United player throughout the game. 5/10

Michael Carrick – Back to his best again tonight. Looked calm and composed, and began to pick his passes. 7/10

Tom Cleverley – Passed the ball nicely, but didn’t do anything too adventurous. Also did well tracking back and helping out the back four as the game went on. 6/10

Antonio Valencia – Played ok, but didn’t get at his man often enough. Helped Rafael out defensively. 6/10

Danny Welbeck – Finished his goal well and didn’t stop working all night. 7/10

Robin van Persie – Didn’t really get enough service, but when he did get the ball he held up play well. 6/10

Subs:

Ryan Giggs – Came on for Fellaini after an hour but didn’t see much of the ball. 6/10

Phil Jones – Not enough time to mark
