Player Ratings: Stoke City 2-0 Manchester United – woeful reds

David de Gea – Rarely tested, but had to pick the ball out of his net twice. 5/10

Ashley Young – Out of position and didn’t have a good day. Arnautovic absolutely battered him down the wing. 3/10

Chris Smalling – Left exposed in the middle. Didn’t really put a foot wrong but Bojan provided a tough test for Smalling. 5/10

Phil Jones – Similar to Smalling. You feel that this game was lost in the wide areas rather than through the middle. 5/10

Daley Blind – Honestly never really got into the game. 4/10


Michael Carrick – He needs someone else alongside him. Perhaps a Morgan Schneiderlin. 5/10

Marouane Fellaini – Should have scored a golden opportunity in the second half. 4/10

Ander Herrera – Average. Played some nice passes but didn’t get into the game anywhere near enough. 4/10

Memphis Depay – Had a shocker, summed up by his horrific back pass which led to the first goal. 2/10

Juan Mata – Quiet once again. Needs to figure out a way of getting into the game more. 4/10

Anthony Martial – He looked like the only Manchester United player up for having a real good go, but couldn’t find the back of the net. 6/10

Subs:

Wayne Rooney – Played a nice ball into Fellaini who should have scored.

Andreas Pereira – Not enough time to mark.
